Stage Four proved to be perhaps the most stunning so far as The Pioneer wound its way from Tekapo to Lake Ohau, skirting Lake Pukaki in the process with stunning vistas of Mount Cook to the North on another picture postcard day.
It was business as usual at the front of The Pioneer with the leaders in all main categories extending their general classification margins on the 74km Stage Three from Fairlie to Lake Tekapo, raced once again in sweltering conditions under picture postcard blue skies.
The South Island turned on a belter for day two of The Pioneer Mountain Bike Stage Race, showing off the looming Southern Alps in all their glory as riders made their way from Geraldine to Fairlie, completing the 106km stage in brilliant sunshine.
