For training and racing, I love my GU Chews, particularly the blueberry pomegranate. I'll always have a packet with me out on a training ride and they have a bit of substance, in comparison to a gel, so they have more of a food feel about them. A bit like a chewy lolly, these particularly go down a treat. Full of amino acids as well as energy, they suit my energy needs when running or riding. As there are two serves per packet, there is also less packaging to stash in your pocket and the long tubular shape is handy to hold onto.
Gu Gels are my race day energy. When I want that instant energy hit, these are perfect. I love the variety of flavours to keep it interesting. Early on in a race, I prefer my toasted marshmallow or jet blackberry gels. Later on, the campfire smores and chocolate flavours, with a hit of caffeine hits the spot. Their handy little packages fit perfectly in my bike bento box, in my back pocket, or stuffed down my crop top. I always ensure to take adequate water on board with each gel so that they work to their best and keep me going.
Gu Hydration Drink Mix has a low carbohydrate count so I can focus on getting my calories in through my food, and my hydration in my bottles. I like to keep them separate so I can keep an eye on my consumption and ensure I hydrate adequately. I use the multi-scoop tubs, and in summer its great with a few ice cubes in your bottle to keep it cooler for longer.
Following training sessions, I ensure to take my Gu Roctane BCAAs to help my body to recover quicker through replacing the amino acids that my body needs for muscle repair and recovery.
GU makes training nutrition easy. I rely on these products to sustain me through a race, and to provide the energy that I need.
