Chasing Dreams: Giles Witt’s Running Journey

Hey everyone! I’m buzzing with excitement after an incredible race at the Dunedin Marathon 10K! 🏃‍♂️ The thrill of crossing that finish line has fueled my passion for running even more, and now I’m setting my sights on the National Road Champs in Timaru at the end of October. This event is known for being one of the fastest 10K courses in the country, and I can’t wait to chase down a personal best!

What makes this journey even more special is that I’ll be competing alongside my brothers. Both my older and younger siblings are passionate runners, and our friendly rivalry has always pushed us to elevate our game. There’s nothing quite like the anticipation of going head-to-head with them—it adds a whole new level of motivation to our training! 💪

Reflecting on our running journey, we’ve picked up some important lessons along the way, especially when it comes to nutrition. In our early days, we were a bit naive about fueling our bodies properly. I can’t tell you how many tough runs I’ve had where I was running on empty, desperately fighting my way home! Those days are behind me, thanks to some fantastic discoveries in sports nutrition.

Enter GU energy gels! 🌟 As I’ve taken my running more seriously, I’ve realized just how crucial it is to fuel up during those longer workouts. Now, I never leave for a run without my trusty GU energy gel. I’ve even expanded my collection to include GU hydration drink tablets and energy chews, which have quickly become my favorites. After every run, I love replenishing with a refreshing lemon-lime drink tablet, and those watermelon chews? Absolute game-changers!

With the National Road Champs just around the corner, I’m more motivated than ever to see how our hard work and proper nutrition will pay off on race day. The thought of racing alongside my brothers and pushing each other to new heights fills me with so much excitement!
